Curriculum development is an ongoing process. The new catalog of courses introduce students and parents to a program of study that is set up in the style of a college, where each course is worth credits towards graduation, where there is a selection of courses in each subject area to allow for student diversity in ability and interest, and where one semester is needed to obtain the 5 credits required.

All courses are aligned with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, CREATE’s educational goals, meet the requirements for graduation, and focus on student learning.

CREATE has an average class size to 20 per class. Each student attends four 75 minutes academic classes, and a half hour advisory class daily.

Each marking period or “module” represents the length of time for each course, valued at 2.5 credits. Since each subject required for graduation is 5 credits, two courses or modules are required to satisfy graduation requirements.

By dividing each subject into two courses, this allows a greater amount of flexibility. Students are able to repeat courses that they may have failed, advance to honors level if they proved to excel after one module, or receive remediation if the course proved difficult.

The guidance department in consultation with teachers and administrators, students and parents, schedule students in classes that are consistent with students’ goals, needs, and interests.

Additional computers were purchased for classrooms to allow for a greater infusion of technology in the curriculum.
